Fear the Walking Dead: In memoriam Madison Clark
The first part of Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season has been shocking. A respectful eulogy for Madison Clark is in order.
Madison Clark was the de facto leader on Fear the Walking Dead. With her dead, however, there is a definite leadership void to fill. Someone will have to pick up her slack.
In the meantime, respect is due. Even in the most bleak times, she stayed true to her faith, her message of unity, and her family. With all the hinting around at her death, and the obvious misdirection with her son’s tragic end, Madison never really got to see her vision of the future all the way through.
In memoriam: Madison Clark
Twas the night before onslaught, near the arena
Zombies advanced like that dumb bird Amina.
Braces fortified the outer door with great care,
Madison was frantic, her kids were out there!
The children were nestled in a compact deathbed,
While grim visions of bloodshed danced in their heads.
The undead horde surged, nearly fracturing the glass,
One has to wonder, “Why not stomp on the gas?”
When at the front door there arose such a clatter,
Madison and crowbar, swing batter, batter.
Luciana joined next, not to miss all the fun.
Strand was the man, arriving late with a gun.
Flare illuminated on leathery gray skin.
Gave forlorn luster to Madison’s chagrin.
She donned a leather jacket, radio in hand,
The undead swarmed, on her desperate last stand.
Her kids in danger, Madison is a fighter,
She flips the switch, Apocalypse Pied Piper,
Wishing to hand down a better future for all,
She leads all the zombies inside of the wall.
The grass bursts into flame and fire rages quick,
Legacy preserved for Alicia and Nick.
Neither son nor daughter see the fiery lawn,
Mother reminds “No one’s gone until they’re gone.”
“On Strand! on, Nick! Alicia and Luciana!
Your matriarch’s gone to brilliant nirvana.
Live life to the fullest, completely undaunted.
Live as Madison would surely have wanted!
