The Walking Dead just released online a new season 9 promotional poster.  Eugene’s faux destination on the horizon? Fan reaction and SDCC panel details revealed.

The Walking Dead season 9 will be debuting this October. Now AMC has officially posted an impressive graphic of Rick, Daryl, Maggie, Carol, and Michonne in front of Capitol Hill. It is quite a colorful ensemble with Rick donning a new haircut. Too bad he’ll be not long for the show this season.

However, fan reaction on The Walking Dead Facebook page has been in the negative with some saying that they stopped watching a long time ago and that it’s “dead”. This is nothing new, and to me, has become white noise.

This is par for the course when it comes to online toxicity. However, there are numerous fans still devoted to the show and can appreciate the art for what it is, a journey.

One chimed in, poking fun at the slew of negativity in a humorous fashion, reminiscent of a similar moment in the season 9 series to the Rick Grimes imagery of him old and grey along with a Weird Al song playing in the background.

The implied beating of a dead horse is prominent with this Facebook commenter.

"“Many years from now….You’re laying in the hospital bed fading in and out of consciousness…..Here it comes……..Your brain begins to shut down……The last thought you ever have is…….’I’m so glad I spent so much time on The Walking Dead fan page telling people I had stopped watching”."

But we’re here to move past that. Grimes and company have gotten past a major hump when defeating the Saviors as a bigger world awaits them. This time, it is proven by an iconic monument in Washington, D.C.

If any fans recall way back in the series, Eugene Porter made his introduction to Abraham and Rosita. It was then he lied about being a government scientist that needed to head to D.C. His introduction wasn’t much different from The Walking Dead comic. He had said that there was a cure for the walker virus. When Eugene revealed that it was a lie, he did think heading to D.C. would be a good destination regardless.

If you really think about it, if art imitates real life, it would stand to reason that D.C. could be heavily fortified and possibly the last remaining stabilized epicenters.

Will another CDC-like encounter occur like it happened in the beginning? Will Jenner’s name be mentioned? Is there still current ongoing research?
