Birds of Prey juicy DCEU movie details reveal no Barbara Gordon

Birds of Prey movie characters revealed, including villain David Cain. How will fans react to a lacking co-founder Barbara Gordon?

A Birds of Prey scoop broke Sunday via Beyond the Trailer, revealing a ton of details regarding this upcoming movie. First off, Barbara Gordon is not on board, but instead it’ll be Cassandra Cain as Batgirl. She is known as the fourth rendition in the comics. Margot Robbie is producing with Christina Hodson as scribe.

Not only that, there will be a Cassandra Cain, Jr. So there looks to be a backstory involved. Grace Randolph mentions a nod to Fox’s Logan movie’s X-23 character. Both quite the young killers in both universes. Apparently, she’ll be saved from the villain David Cain.

Randolph mentions what Margot Robbie revealed as this idea matches up with this breaking news.

"“Margot Robbie took, and Warner Bros. let her, the idea of saving a young girl from Gavin O’Connor’s Suicide Squad 2.”"

Other Birds of Prey characters announced are Huntress, Black Canary, Lady Shiva, and Katana. Since there won’t be any Barbara Gordon in this film, it’ll be a wonder how the replacement would work. Will Harley Quinn take her place? Remember, in the comics Barbara and Black Canary founded this troupe of heroes.

Since Barbara Gordon is a key techie character with this group, it’ll be wonder if they’ll even add a technical element or geek person to the flick. Also, this’ll we be a huge adjustment to the movie adaptation. Will the DCEU completely negate Barbara Gordon’s paralysis at the hands of The Joker?

It’ll also be interesting how Cassandra’s training will occur at the hands of David. In the comics, she had a speech disability, but made up for it in her fighting abilities. Cassandra had the ability to read body language and anticipate moves others made.

I think an all-female DC anti-hero flick will live up to the hype. If anything, instead of seeing the negative of a major adjustment, I find the challenge of adapting to that situation to be alone interesting.

If the hype for this movie starts to steam roll, who knows if Marvel Studios will attempt to compete with the DCEU with an all-female Avengers-style movie.

Kevin Feige did mention early this year the audiences’ response when seeing the ladies on the big screen, according to Metro UK.  We witnessed the Wakandans, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch take on the foes of Thanos in Infinity War. Don’t forget the stellar performance made by Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.
