It’s difficult to believe Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes is leaving The Walking Dead in Season 9. Let’s take a look back at our favorite scenes with the boss sheriff…

Note: Spoilers ahead if you have not watched all the episodes of The Walking Dead

Rick Grimes has come a long way since we met him in “Days Gone Bye.” The tough, yet kind and caring, deputy was reunited with his family not long after leaving the hospital. But life was not easy after that. Rick may have found new friends, and even love, but he has sadly lost more than he has gained throughout his journey. Rick’s latest loss hurt all of us — Carl (Chandler Riggs).

Fans were not even close to getting over Carl’s death when it was announced Andrew Lincoln would be leaving the series. The Walking Dead has lost over a million fans in the last several seasons, does Rick’s death mean more viewers will quit the show? Probably.

We’ll never forget Rick Grimes or the memes he gifted the internet, such as “stuff and thangs” and his intense camera stares. Below are six of our favorite scenes starring Rick Grimes…

More from AMC

This scene happens a few episodes after Rick declared his Ricktatroship (more on this moment below). So with his promise to keep everyone safe still fresh, Rick has little to no patience for new people. He keeps a watchful eye and paranoid attitude with the prisoners the group meets.

So when one of them, Tomas, claims to have “accidentally” put Rick and Daryl in harm’s way by pushing a walker on top of Rick and swinging his weapon dangerously close to Rick head, Tomas simply shrugs and says “shit happens.”

Tomas and Rick have a stare down. Before Tomas can say anything, Rick tells him “I get it. ‘Shit happens’…” and then drives his machete into Tomas’ skull. Boss!
