Sky One’s A Discovery of Witches will make it to U.S. and Canadian TV screens. What do you need to know about the latest book adaptation?

A Discovery of Witches is the latest book adaptation to make it to TV. Produced by Bad Wolf, the company behind Doctor Who and Torchwood, the show will air on Sky One in the UK. During an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, the panel confirmed that the show will air in the U.S. and Canada on Sundance Now and Shudder simultaneously. It’s the first partnership for SVOD.

The bad news is we’re still waiting for a release date for the eight-episode series. There wasn’t even a hint of one at SDCC 2018. It will air in the UK from Sept. 14.

Based on the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness, the series will star Downton Abbey and The Crown‘s Matthew Goode, Hacksaw Ridge‘s Teresa Palmer, and Doctor Who‘s Alex Kingston. It’s a series about witches and vampires, love and loss, and so much more.

More from Drama

Palmer is a reluctant witch, set to ignore her heritage called Diana. Goode is a geneticist vampire called Matthew. When they discover an ancient and bewitched manuscript, they find themselves on a dangerous mystery together, which threatens to unravel that peace that has long existed between their kinds and between humans and daemons.

Get ready for an exciting fantasy drama that is sure to make you want to pick up the novels if you haven’t already. The first is titled “A Discovery of Witches.”
