The CW teases Batwoman in the upcoming crossover event
DC’s shows on the CW have tip-toed around the subject of Batman and Gotham for a while now. With the upcoming Batwoman appearance we’ll see that pay off.
With Gotham airing on Fox and being a prequel to Bruce becoming Batman, there was little chance that we’d see the show crossover with the ones on the CW. However, we will see Batwoman joining the heroes soon.
The character is set to appear in the December 2018 crossover event, but we don’t have too many details on what her role will be or how they plan to introduce the character within the event. Her solo series, however, is still in the works and isn’t officially slated for release yet.
Batwoman was initially Kathy Kane in the comics when she first appeared back in 1956 in Detective Comics #233 as a love interest for Batman. Kate Kane’s first appearance as herself didn’t come until August 2006 and as Batwoman a month later.
In the “Heroes and Villains” sizzle trailer, we get our first tease of Batwoman joining the crossover. We don’t actually see the live-action character, but we at least know we’ll be seeing her for the event.
There’s a moment in the trailer where Supergirl talks about masks being “big in that other city.” When she’s out as Kara, she also mentions that vigilantes are crazy. Initially, you could take that as a jab towards Guardian, but it applies to Gotham’s vigilantes as well.

With The Flash scenes, we have a Flash signal and Cisco mentions seeing it in some comic book. That’s another nod to Gotham/Batman. While it isn’t Batman that we’ll see, Batwoman still works in a similar way. Many of these comments can be applied to her and it’ll be fun to see how she interacts with the other heroes.
The CW’s Arrowverse shows return in the fall.
