At SDCC 2018, The Magicians Season 4 promo dropped during the panel. It reminded us exactly how we felt at the end of Season 3 and gave us an insight of what to expect.

The Magicians Season 4 promo dropped at SDCC 2018 during the panel. Along with that, the cast and showrunners took to the stage to answer a few questions. Of course, the panel reminded us instantly how we felt at the end of that shocking third season and the fears we had for our main characters. Now we’re left wondering what will come next.

The promo was a little like an introductory video for a new show. The Magicians social media even dubbed it The Civilians, which is mentioned in the promo by Stella Maeve, who plays Julia. Stella, Summer Bishil, Jade Taylor and others introduced the new characters they would play and a little bit about them.

At the end of The Magicians Season 3, everyone except Alice became someone completely new. Why Alice? Olivia Taylor Dudley asked that question to showrunner John McNamara, who confirmed with this honest and epic reason:

Olivia also admitted that she would love to see Alice and Quentin get back together at some point. However, there is a growing bond between Q and Eliot and she doesn’t want to get between that.

Speaking of that bond, it will be explored more. This is something the stars want to see and both Jason Ralph and Hale Appleman have spoken about LGBTQ on the show and TV in general. Jason shares that Q’s bisexuality is the only thing he isn’t anxious about, which is a positive step for TV characters.

More from Syfy

Hale wants to see more gay characters on screen. He wants to get to a point where sexuality isn’t even a topic and everyone gets to be who they are without question. Hale (who plays one of my two favorite characters on the show) also shared that there was no gay king when he was growing up and loves that there is one on The Magicians.

My second of two favorite characters is Margo, and Summer Bishil was happy to see Margo get a chance to grow in the third season. Hopefully, the fourth season isn’t going to backtrack too much. Hale and Summer will get some more screentime together, despite Eliot now being taken over by this child-like monster. Some of the scenes sound like they’ll be uncomfortable for Eliot and Margo fans.

There’s also going to be some character growth for Rick Worthy’s Dean Fogg. Showrunner Sera Gamble shared that Dean Fogg will start philosophizing regulation.

Of course, the one thing we all wanted was The Magicians Season 4 trailer. Here it is in all its glory. Honestly, I can’t wait for 2019 to get here. With previous release dates, a January one for Season 4 is likely. Let’s hope that’s the case!
