Younger celebrates Christmas in July and gifts #TeamCharles with a special holiday treat. But did Charles earn his big moment?

Well, that was a Christmas miracle, all right. After weeks of Charles punishing Liza for hiding the truth about her age, Younger fills our resident Grinch with holiday spirit. As promised in the title, there’s a Christmas miracle to be experienced in this week’s episode, and not just Diana graciously accepting a hand-knitted scarf from Liza. No, Charles finally makes up his mind, even though his decision regarding Liza’s lie should seriously be deemed too little too late.

Meanwhile in the holiday offering, Younger shows Kelsey the true downside of simultaneously dating your co-editor and the author whose book you’re working on. Across town, Maggie unfortunately finds the other shoe dropping from last week’s monumental career achievement. It’s a bittersweet holiday for Liza and her friends, but come to think of it, it might just be a sweet holiday for Liza considering Josh’s (unopened!) gifts and Charles’ unexpected miracle.

Kelsey’s caught between a Jake and a Zane place.

As anticipated, Kelsey’s love triangle with Jake and Zane isn’t conducive to a productive work environment. But she already knew that, didn’t she? When Jake sees Zane kiss Kelsey at the New York Magazine Christmas party, he asks Charles if Kelsey could be the sole editor on his book. Obviously, this creates bad blood between Kelsey and Zane and places Kelsey in a lose-lose situation. Hindsight is 20/20, but she really needed Liza at that party to run interference (and we really needed Lauren’s expert insight on the matter).

Maggie and her art can’t be bought.

Last week, Maggie learned that her art would be featured in a prestigious gallery, and she was over the moon, as she should be. But oh, didn’t you think there would be strings attached? Maggie’s rolling with the punches of the fancy art dealers who purchased her whole collection of work, though when she meets a fellow artist, she starts to smell the roses. Suddenly the extravagant gifts and promised trips to St. Barth’s aren’t an even trade for her art never showing in a gallery. Rightfully, Maggie backs out of the deal with her artistic integrity intact.

Charles delivers a Christmas miracle.

More from Comedy

Who knew that all it would take for Charles to forgive Liza and re-fall in love with her was a family performance of “The Lonely Goatherd” from The Sound of Music? During the Katz’s Christmas party, Liza and Charles are introduced and set up (oh, the irony), and Charles warms up to the real Liza. They even swap parenting stories at work. Ultimately, Charles abandons his Christmas trip to kiss Liza in the snow and make the world swoon. It’s too soon to tell if these two are all in since Josh’s presents weren’t revealed. Could his thoughtful gifts soon sway Liza away from Charles?

What do you think, Younger fans? Is Kelsey in too deep? Did Maggie make the right choice for her career? And was the build up to Liza and Charles getting together worth the agonizing wait? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
