The way forward for the Jurassic World franchise is slow and steady

Jurassic World has been a smash hit in theaters, already grossing more than $4.7 billion worldwide per AWN. But the best is yet to come! Spoilers ahead for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Yes, it is a smash hit, and yes, it is a good movie — a nostalgia-filled thriller with new flavors along with the old. However, I believe this movie will ultimately be remembered as a setup movie for what lies ahead for the franchise — and it has the potential to be incredible if it’s slow cooked.

Somehow, we had to bring the dinosaurs off that island to populated land where they could begin to re-habitat the earth, right? Without that, all we would have in future movies would be isolated drama focused on one singular location.

And bringing them to the human populace is exactly what they did in Fallen Kingdon… So now, the fun can start. But in spite of the temptation that must exist to rush the storyline, I believe the franchise will really benefit from taking it slow now that the long-term implications of dinosaurs roaming the earth again can be imagined.

What do I mean by that? Don’t turn this into a Godzilla or a King Kong situation. We don’t need another movie that ends up with a giant monster crashing around New York City (just my opinion). Instead, I am hoping writers will allow this new world to develop slowly as dinosaurs begin to turn back the clock on the human race and its dominance over the earth.

The possibilities are truly endless, but I am hoping they allow it to develop and breathe over the length of several movies instead of rushing it — which appears to be the plan considering how this movie ended.

The future is bright for this franchise, and if the sequels are done correctly, there will be dinosaur smash hits for years to come.
