Will there be more Mission: Impossible movies?

Will there be more Mission: Impossible movies after Fallout? And if so, how many?
If Mission: Impossible – Fallout was the first movie in the M:I franchise you watch, you wouldn’t believe it is the sixth installment in the film series. That’s how amazing Fallout is.
Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, the best IMF (Impossible Missions Force) agent there has ever been, in the latest Mission: Impossible chapter. Fallout is visually stunning, nonstop action, and features some of the best stunts in the entire franchise. It’s truly not a movie that should be missed in theaters. Will there be more?
The answer probably does not depend on the studio, they are definitely game for more. Even if the movies were just a few hundred thousand dollars less successful, there is still a ton of money to be made. But are the stars willing to return? Specifically, Tom Cruise? It sure seems like it! The actor is not only credited as a producer in this movie (as he is in all of them), but he’s at the top of his game in Fallout.

According to Bustle, longtime Mission: Impossible star Simon Pegg was asked is there is a seventh movie in the works. He replied, “Not yet, [but] the story shows no sign of slowing down. Never say never.”
It’s a safe bet there is at least one more movie planned. The seventh chapter could even serve as the series finale. Unless, of course, they recast? It probably wouldn’t be the same, though.
Assuming there’s one more movie on the way, let’s take a look at the premiere dates for all six movies to throw our best guess out there for when the seventh installment could be out.
- Mission: Impossible – 1996
- Mission: Impossible 2 – 2000
- Mission: Impossible III – 2006
- Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – 2011
- Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – 2015
- Mission: Impossible – Fallout – 2018
The movies all seem to be anywhere from three to six years apart. Mission: Impossible 7 can fall between 2021 to 2024. Due to Cruise’s age, he may be more comfortable shooting the movie sooner than later. Never underestimate Cruise, though!
Mission: Impossible – Fallout is now in theaters. Don’t miss it!
