Release Date: The film was released on March 2, 2007.

Box Office: Zodiac made most of its money at the foreign box office when it was released. A total $51.7 million was foreign and another $33 million was domestic.

Reception: At Rotten TomatoesZodiac scored 90% Fresh score and a decent 77% audience score. Critics hailed Zodiac as the best film in David Fincher’s career and many highlighted the nuanced performance of Gyllenhaal.

The Role: Zodiac is an intense thriller about a serial killer in San Francisco who sends the police and the newspapers letters and cryptic messages. Following the investigators and the reports who become obsessed with the case, the film is somewhat fictionalized take on the real events centered around the search for a murderer. Robert Graysmith (Gyllenhaal) is a cartoonist that quickly becomes caught up in the investigation after he solves some of Zodiac’s riddles.

The Verdict: Zodiac is one of the best movies of all time. Everything comes together to create a perfect crime drama which ratchets up the anxiety and delivers an engaging mystery. It’s ranked number one for a reason, and you will not be disappointed with this movie!
