Acorn TV states that “The Fairies of Fryfam” was filmed first, but the Agatha Raisin series 2 premiere will be “The Wizard of Evesham.” The third title will be “The Curious Curate.”

The new season’s episodes will each be twice as long as the episodes from the first season, at 90 minutes each. It is not yet clear whether they will divide each episode into two 45-minute episodes when airing, or show each 90-minute episode in one sitting.
“Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death” was 90 minutes long and Acorn may have decided that the plots of the original books were better served with the longer episodes. There is more time to flesh out the mysteries and throw in a few red herrings as well!
Who is returning?
As of now Ashley Jenson (Agatha Raisin), Matthew Horne (Roy Silver), Matt McCooey (Bill Wong) and Katy Wix (Gemma Simpson) are returning. But what about Jamie Glover who portrayed James Lacey, Agatha’s love interest?
Agatha Raisin fans may remember that the last episode of the first season, Agatha and James almost married in the episode called “Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage.” James got cold feet when Agatha’s husband was murdered. He took off for Cyprus and the season ended with Agatha going after him.
Acorn has not revealed much about any possible return of James. Those who have read the books know that there is an Agatha love triangle that includes James and another eligible bachelor that was previously introduced in the first season. It may be interesting to see if Acorn chooses to make any changes.
Acorn saved Agatha Raisin because of North American popularity
The dramedy detective series, that was originally filmed by Sky One in 2016, after the pilot episode, “Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death” was released in 2014. The series was saved by Acorn TV in early 2018 because of the huge North American audience.
According to the behind the scenes Acorn video that was recently released on social media, actor Matt McCooey who plays Bill Wong, explained that they thought that the show was canceled for good, and they were “absolutely devastated.” But, of course, Acorn saved the day and now there is a new season.

Any clues to the new episodes?
Katy Wix reveals that there will be a duck in one of the three episodes this season, and this is the first time she has ever held a duck. Costume designer Sue Thomson revealed to the Acorn TV cameras some of her drawings. This includes some old-fashioned looking lingerie that will be used in a burlesque sequence in one of the upcoming episodes. She explains that the women of Carsley will be doing a burlesque show like the movie Calendar Girls. Surely, this is one of Agatha’s brilliant ideas to earn money for the church.
