#5 The Lego Movie

Original Release Date: The Lego Movie premiered in theaters on February 7, 2014.

Box Office Earnings: With the relatively low budget of $60 million, The Lego Movie went on to collect $469.1 million worldwide. It almost gathered an even number from both domestic box offices and international — $257.7 million and $211.4 million respectively.

Critical Acclaim: At the Academy Awards, The Lego Movie was nominated for Best Original Song. The movie was also recognized at the AACTA Awards, American Cinema Editors awards, 42nd Annual Annie Awards, the BAFTA’s and many more. Rotten Tomatoes has given the movie 96% Fresh, and audiences score the movie there with a 87%.

About the Role: Chris Pratt plays Emmet, a Lego construction worker. It may seem like a small role, and voice-acting doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, but Pratt is hilarious! You don’t need to see the actor to picture his face expressions as his voice shines through his colorful character.

Simply the Best: Fans and critics weren’t too hopeful about the movie when news about it first surfaced, but it was a pleasant surprise for everyone! The movie also stars Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, and Alison Brie.
