Yadira Guevara-Prip has landed a series regular role in Apple’s straight-to-series drama See. What exactly does this mean for Wayward Sisters?

In case you missed the news that Deadline reported a couple of days ago, Yadira Gevara-Prip is one of two new series regulars on Apple’s new straight-to-series program See. While it’s excellent news for her as an actress, it’s raised an important question about Wayward Sisters. Does this mean the chances of the Supernatural spin-off is officially over?

The CW may have passed on it this season, but there was the hope that maybe the network’s mind would be changed. There was also the hope that somewhere else would pick up the series. While Netflix having it would have been awkward for crossovers and following timelines between the spin-off and parent shows, it wouldn’t have been completely impossible. And at least there was a series.

Campaigns to get Wayward Sisters on the air haven’t stopped. That’s not surprising since campaigns for the spin-off, originally titled Wayward Daughters, ran for three years before the spin-off idea was even considered.

While we want to see the actresses land new roles, it’s hard to be happy when we know it means Wayward Sisters is now unlikely to happen at all. Even with a slight change to the storyline, it would be difficult to get the actresses back. And Andrew Dabb and co. knew that when the spin-off was turned down by The CW. The actresses are no longer in contract.

Of course, doing other projects doesn’t mean that Wayward Sisters is completely over. There’s always the chance that the current projects won’t work out or that if the opportunity to do the spin-off again came up that they would jump at the chance. Right now, I think as Wayward Sisters originally stood we can say goodbye.

That doesn’t mean it’s all over. Maybe the show could be reworked to focus on just Jody Mills and Sheriff Donna, with actresses that have completely moved on to other big projects, such as Kathryn Newton and Yadira, to drop in every now and then. Personally, I’d be more interested in a spin-off about the two sheriffs than the extra characters. It would feel a little more grown up like Supernatural does compared to the teenage drama on The CW right now.

By the way, Wayward Sisters will never disappear completely because it’s in our hearts. Katherine Ramdeen is involved in the #WaywardBookclub.
