How many more seasons of Better Call Saul will there be?

The fourth season of Better Call Saul has only just arrived, but we’re already wondering about future seasons. How many more can we expect?

Our favorite Monday nights are back! But with Better Call Saul being a prequel series to the hit Breaking Bad, we know it can’t be around for much longer. Recent events suggest the plot is reaching the original storyline, is the end approaching soon? Here’s what we know…

Earlier this month, it was announced that Better Call Saul has been renewed for a fifth season. We can all at least rest easy knowing Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), Mike (Johnathan Banks), and Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) will return again in about a year. We’re not too sure if season 5 will include Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) or Nacho (Michael Mando), though, we really hope so, but there’s a reason why they’re not in Breaking Bad.

Is season 5 the last one? Probably. They are not calling it that, but have highly suggested it. In an interview with Independent, showrunner Peter Gould said he can’t imagine Better Call Saul running longer than Breaking Bad. The original series was around for five seasons, so fans are assuming season 5 of BCS will be its last.

More from AMC

“In an ideal world it would make a beautiful Blu-ray or DVD set, or whatever futuristic media may exist eventually, to have the shows kind of bookend and be roughly the same number of episodes,” Gould told the source.

In previous interviews, Gould has also stressed not wanting to overstay his welcome. There likely won’t be a sixth season unless absolutely necessary, and after watching the season 4 premiere, it doesn’t seem like it will be. Everything is coming together nicely.

Breaking Bad consisted of 62 episodes as it doubled up in episodes in the final season. If you include the episodes in season 4 of BCS, there are 40. So, to be “around the same time as Breaking Bad,” season 5 of Saul could either contain its usual 10 episodes or double up. We’re hoping for the latter.

Better Call Saul airs Monday nights on AMC. Don’t miss it!
