7. Pitch Perfect 2

Original Release Date: May 15, 2015

Box Office Earnings: Pitch Perfect 2 earned $287,506,194 worldwide and $184,296,230 domestically. Opening weekend alone contributed $69,216,890.

Critical Acclaim: The sequel isn’t as good as the first movie, but Rotten Tomatoes has a 65% critic rating and the audience is at 64%. Sometimes the critics and fans have very different opinions on movies, but everyone seemed to recognize the slight decline with this one. Despite that, the movie won awards at the Teen Choice Awards, People’s Choice Awards, MTV Movie Awards and the Billboard Awards.

About the Role: Kendrick reprises her role as Beca Mitchell. She’s now interning at a record label called Residual Heat. She’s distanced herself from the Barden Bellas and is reluctant to return until the group persuades her to. Beca also goes on to produce Emily’s new song, “Flashlight,” to prove to her boss that she can be a producer.

Simply the Best: While not as good as the first movie, Pitch Perfect 2 is a serviceable sequel and we get plenty of fun moments as most of the original cast returns and we get to see Hailee Steinfeld shine alongside the like of Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson and more.
