Who is the killer in Sharp Objects?
By Kelley Hey
With three episodes remaining, Sharp Objects is getting closer and closer to revealing the Wind Gap killer. Here are 4 theories on who that killer possibly is.
HBO’s miniseries Sharp Objects has only three episodes left. If you are like me and haven’t read the book, you are dying to know who the killer of Ann Nash and Natalie Keene is. You may also be coming up with elaborate theories on who this person is. After 5 episodes of watching and observing, I have 4 theories of my own on the identity of the mysterious murderer.
I did not include Bob Nash or John Keene on this list because, with dark mysteries like this, it is usually never the most obvious suspects. Here are our best four guesses…

#1 Adora Crellin
Adora is very emotionally volatile and emotionally abusive, which makes her a prime suspect in my eyes. In the second episode, a young boy tells Camille that Natalie was taken by a “woman in white”. Later in the episode, we see Adora in a long, white nightgown. Was this a subtle hint that she is this woman? As far as motive is concerned, my theory is that she may have killed Ann and Natalie because they reminded her of the teenager Mariah never got to be.
#2 Amma Crellin
Out of all the characters in Sharp Objects, Amma is arguably the most suspicious one. She has a whole other secret life that she keeps hidden from Adora. Also, she has a past with Ann and Natalie that she did not tell Camille about. Why would she keep this from Camille if she had nothing to hide? Maybe a fight with her old friends took a violent turn.
Willis did say the crime was most likely committed by a man because of the strength needed to pull out teeth. However, that could be the writers way of throwing the audience off.
#3 Alan Crellin
This theory is based on the fact that he seems like the least likely suspect. That may sound weird, but there have been true crime stories revolving around killers who seem like regular, normal people.
Besides that, what do we know about him besides that he loves music and he dotes on Adora? What secrets is he possibly hiding? Could he have worked with Adora to kill the girls out of sick devotion to her?
#4 Chief Vickery
Now this is the theory I am least confident in; however, I am still considering it. Why is he so resistant to working with Willis? Despite differences in upbringing, if he truly cared about the town and the victims, he would do whatever it takes to solve the crime. Also, it seems like he is slowly working the case. These actions are suspicious to me.
However, out of these four suspects, I cannot reason any type of motive for him. He doesn’t have a clear connection to the girls and he doesn’t seem to be a sociopath or psychopath, but you never know.
Sharp Objects airs Sunday nights on HBO.
