Will Queen of Shadows ever make it to the screen?
Will Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass novels ever become the television series, Queen of Shadows? Signs don’t look good.
Despite the number of TV series on air through broadcast, cable, and streaming, it still takes a lot to get from conception to the screen. There could even be an announcement that a show is in production. Yet, it doesn’t guarantee anything. That’s where we are with Queen of Shadows, a television show based on Sarah J. Maas’ popular Throne of Glass series.
It was announced back in 2016 Hulu would develop the series. But since then there’s been barely a peep about it, which doesn’t spell good news for fans anxiously waiting for the series.

The last update came in late 2016 with Jen Chambers, a producer attached to the show, tweeted an image of the front of a script. Then, nary a word despite numerous requests from fans for updates on social media and email.
Unfortunately, that silence speaks volumes. If a show were being produced and coming out sometime soon, there would be more talk to create some excitement. At the very least, some vague hints about how thrilled people are working on the project. There’s been no casting news, or updates from the author, Hulu or those attached to the series.
This strikes me as one of those shows that will be stuck in limbo for years to come until someone dusts off the old scripts and is reminded of it. Or a show that never gets made.
Throne of Glass is a popular series with fans with the final installment of the seven-book series scheduled to release in October. Perhaps that will get some people thinking about the series again.
It’s too bad that it has stayed in limbo for so long. With Game of Thrones ending soon, there is a room and a thirst for a compelling fantasy drama. While the Throne of Glass series has its flaws, it’s still a fascinating book that can be adjusted for the screen.
Hopefully, sooner rather than later, Queen of Shadows will make its way to our screen so we can get a look at Aelin Galathynius, Dorian, Nehemia, Aedion, Rowan, Chaol and the rest of the crew in the flesh.
