Big Brother 20 ratings have been really good this summer, the viewership numbers took a bit of a hit this past week. Going up against the America’s Got Talent results show and an NFL preseason game was tough.

When it comes to the key demographic of viewers aged 18-49, the Big Brother 20 ratings continue to be extremely impressive. Even as total estimated viewers slipped for the reality competition program during the August 22 and 23 episodes of the show, it still dominated in the numbers that most advertisers love to see. It creates a bit of a debate about which show actually won the time slots.

August 22 Big Brother 20 ratings

On the Wednesday night episode, where CBS viewers saw the Zingbot Veto Competition play out, Big Brother had to go up against the second America’s Got Talent results show. A report from TV By the Numbers had the Big Brother 20 ratings in the key demo at 1.6/8 for the night. That was just ahead of the 1.5/8 by AGT. As for total viewers, it was estimated that 9.53 million tuned in for AGT and 5.66 million tuned in for Big Brother.

August 23 Big Brother 20 ratings

During the Scottie Salton eviction episode on Thursday night, CBS had to go up against an NFL preseason game on FOX. A report from TV By the Numbers states that for its three hours, the football game averaged 5.73 million viewers and a 1.6/8 mark in the key demo. As for Big Brother, the show had 5.61 million estimated viewers and a 1.6/8 mark in the key demo.

Those numbers were a big drop from the previous week, where an estimated 6.49 million viewers watched the Rockstar eviction episode. Drawing an estimated 5.61 million viewers for August 23 is still quite good for a summer show, but it was definitely a noticeable drop. So why did it happen? It’s possible that some CBS viewers tuned out, as it had become very obvious that Scottie was going to the BB20 jury, no matter what producers had tried to convince the television audience.

The next Big Brother 20 episode comes on Sunday night. The August 26 ratings could be good, because an HOH Competition took place on the live feeds, leaving a lot of CBS viewers in the dark about what happened.
