20. Point of No Return

“Point of No Return” is one of the biggest episodes of Supernatural Season 5 and a must-watch for all. As the title would suggest, Dean gets to that point of no return. He either says yes to Michael or risks watching everyone around him die.

And Zachariah isn’t that bothered about killing the other half of the big apocalypse to make a point. I always found that odd for the angel considering he just wanted the story to play out like it was supposed to, but never mind.

Supernatural Season 5, Episode 18 sees Dean seriously considering saying yes. The Winchesters and Castiel had tried to stop the apocalypse from happening. Up to this point, everything they’ve tried has failed. They’ve lost people they love because they just couldn’t quite beat the devil.

It’s also clear where the story is going from this point. After all, the angels bring Adam Milligan back from the dead. Why would they bring him back other than to use him?

This episode is another one that drives home the idea of family and love. It’s the idea that family isn’t all about blood (Bobby isn’t about to let Dean make a sacrifice) and sometimes you need the support of friends and family to make it through the worst moments in life. Oh, and yes, you can kill an angel with a bit of your own trickery.
