5. Abandon All Hope

We knew the stakes were high going into Supernatural Season 5, Episode 10. There was a chance to get the devil and it was clear that not everyone could make it out alive. The question was going to be who wouldn’t make it through.

All signs certainly pointed to Jo. After all, Dean made a joke about it being their last night on Earth and Jo made it clear she wasn’t going to spend the night with him. This young girl had grown into a strong hunter with a clear mind of her own. With that development, there was no way she could survive right?

In the end, we got two deaths for the price of one. And both was in vain in a way. Lucifer couldn’t be killed with the Colt.

While I hate watching Jo and Ellen’s deaths, they were fitting. Jo and Dean got that moment that some fans had waited years to see–and it was totally bittersweet. Ellen had gotten into hunting to protect her daughter, and now she was here dying with her. The two were all they had left in the world and they were going out together.

roe importantly, they were sacrificing their lives to give the Winchesters time. It wasn’t clear just why the two Winchesters were so important, but they knew something; Ellen knew something.

We also can’t forget that this was Crowley’s first ever episode. We’d heard about him but never put a face to the name. Now we finally could and it was clear he was always one step ahead.
