Chapter 3: “Tahani Al-Jamil”

Guests: Jameela Jamil, Actress (Tahani Al-Jamil) / Camille Bratkowski, Set Designer

Fun Facts:

  • Piggybacking off of the final fun fact in our last slide – Jameela Jamil originally wanted to be a writer when she came to Hollywood. However, once she was offered a meeting with Michael Schur for a role in The Good Place, everything changed.
  • The set for Tahani’s house is actually a 72 million dollar mansion in Beverly Hills. No mention on how many regulation-sized tennis courts it houses, but there’s gotta be at least one.
  • Good Place fans looking to find a bit of heaven while they’re in the L.A. area can stop at the Huntington Gardens and Library in San Marino. While you won’t find Eleanor and Tahani’s iconic houses here (those were added digitally), you can take a leisurely stroll through the lush Chinese gardens and bridges. Fro-yo not included.
  • Another location that might be of interest to fans is the actual center of the Good Place itself. The charming street full of cheery storefronts can be found on the backlot of Universal Studios. Built decades ago, the soundstage was once featured in classic films such as Spartacus. Since its heyday, the set had fallen into disrepair, but it was such a perfect location for the Good Place that the crew spent time cleaning it up and getting it back into shape to be featured in the series.
