The second season of Netflix’s Ozark will be landing on the streaming service in the coming week. Here is a quick preview of what the Jason Bateman led series has to offer.

The collaboration between Arrested Development actor Jason Bateman and Netflix first premiered back in July 2017. The series performed well enough with critics, garnering a 67% on the Tomatometer. The critics consensus highlighted the series’ potential and applauded Bateman for his gripping performance.

The series centers around Marty Byrde (Bateman), a financial advisor who gets caught up in a money laundering scheme for a Cartel member named Del. After Marty’s business partner tries and fails to cross Del, he is forced to move his entire family into the Ozarks to attempt to correct the issue.

After the series finale, fans of the show were left with a lot of questions about what might happen next. Will the Byrde family be safe after Del’s death? Or, will the FBI come any closer to arresting Marty? However, with the second season set to premiere within the next week, audiences won’t have to wait much longer for answers.

Here is the official synopsis for Ozark Season 2:

"“In its much-anticipated second season, Ozark continues to follow Marty Bryde and his family as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Byrdes soon realise they have to go all in before they can get out.”"

Ozark never quite hit its full potential last season, but it did prove that it has what it takes to compete with other Netflix heavy hitters like the sci-fi series Stranger Things. The higher stakes in season 2 will surely help the series develop into a better series if it’s done right.

The trailer for season 2 promises an even darker journey, more emotional stories, and Bateman looks as if he’s poised to deliver another stunning performance for the off-season. The second season will span 10 episodes and premieres on August 31.
