#5 The Other Boleyn Girl

Original Release Date: In Berlinale, the movie premiered in theaters on February 15, 2008. Later that month, on February 29, it arrived to the United States and expanded from there.

Box Office Earnings: With a $35 million budget, The Other Boleyn Girl collected $77.7 million worldwide. From this sum, $26.8 million came from domestic box offices, and $50.8 million from ticket sales overseas.

Critical Acclaim: While it was ignored at award shows and only has a 42% score at Rotten Tomatoes, The Other Boleyn Girl features one of Portman’s best performances and, as you’ll read below, the actress worked hard for it.

About the Role: Natalie Portman stars as Anne Boleyn. The actress has publicly shared she took the role because it wasn’t unlike anything she had played before and she enjoys a challenge. She took daily lessons to master the accent and history. We’re glad she took it, we can’t imagine anyone else with the part.

Simply the Best: The Boleyn girls aren’t just beautiful, they also pack intelligence and wit. The storytelling is flawed, but the talent saves the film with its brilliant performances.
