Shadowhunters fans continue to feel disrespected following the series’ cancellation after major spoilers for season 3B are carelessly leaked in a public prop auction. Here’s what happened and why it matters.

It’s one thing to have your favorite series canceled, but it’s another to then have its final season be tossed to the side and disrespected. This is how Shadowhunters fans have felt for the past several weeks — for some, several months — as the network fails to display a sense of pride or loyalty to the series, and at times, comes across as trying to disassociate from Shadowhunters altogether.

After having its final season pushed to 2019 with no hint of a release date, fans feel that Freeform has failed to represent Shadowhunters, omitting it from their newest trailer, continuing to delete encouraging comments about fan-organized fundraising in the name of the show and — compared to other winter and spring shows on the network — being frustratingly silent when it comes to any kind of content or news for Shadowhunters season 3B.

This week, a production auction unexpectedly turned into another slap in the face to fans. Here’s exactly what happened (spoiler-free) and why it was so devastating to the show’s audience.
