Supernatural Season 4, Episode 2 brought us the Rising of the Witnesses and a lot of familiar faces. Here are the best lines from the episode.

Supernatural Season 4, Episode 2 certainly had a lot of familiar faces. “Are You There, God? It’s Me, Dean Winchester” brought back a number of characters from the dead for one episode and one episode only. In a well-crafted method, the faces of Ronald, Henriksen, and Meg came back to become Witnesses to kick-start the breaking of the seals to free Lucifer.

While there were some excellent moments with the ghosts, we also got a lot of good and memorable lines. Here are the best five from the episode.

It all says an angel can snatch a soul from the Pit.

While Dean debated whether angels were real, this was really the only confirmation we needed. Bobby had learned that angels could rescue souls from the Pit. Castiel had raised Dean and he just had to be the angel that he said he was. Plus, this line made it clear that there wasn’t going to be a lot of focus on whether Castiel was how he said he was, so we could get straight into the story.

Sam, they’re angels. I’m a demon. They’re not gonna care if I’m being helpful. They smite first, and then they ask questions later.

It’s not often we saw Ruby scared in Supernatural. In fact, I think this was the only time. Ruby made it extremely clear that she’d only ever heard about angels but it was enough to worry her. They weren’t going to give her the time of day. Maybe, though, this was more of a clue that the angels would know she wasn’t being as “helpful” as she said she was.

I had a free weekend.

This was the first time we ever got to see Bobby’s panic room. It was also the first time the Winchesters learned about it, making it clear that it was new. Well, Bobby built it himself because he had a free weekend. There is only Bobby who you could realistically see doing something like that!

Apocalypse? The Apocalypse, Apocalypse? The Four Horsemen, pestilence, $5-a-gallon-gas apocalypse?

Just in case you needed to know which apocalypse the Winchesters were talking about, it was this one! Dean has always had a way with words to clarify just how big of a deal something is. In Supernatural Season 3 it was “dingo-ate-my-baby-crazy.” In Supernatural Season 4, Episode 2, it’s the “$5-a-gallon-gas apocalypse.”

Read the Bible. Angels are warriors of God. I’m a soldier.

Dean questions Castiel about angels, believing them to be the fluffy cloud beings that many others likely thought of angels as. It doesn’t take long for Castiel to point out the truth. This also makes it clear that the Supernatural writers did their research into the Biblical Apocalypse and the exact religion all this was definitely coming from.
