After months of waiting, it’s finally here. Black Lightning Season 2 officially has a trailer and it was certainly worth that wait. Here’s what to expect in the new season.

There’s lots of good news for Black Lightning fans. The show has been moved from a midseason lineup to a fall lineup (so more episodes) and the cast from the first season is sticking around. On top of that, Painkiller has been upped to a series regular so there’s going to be a lot more of him on the screen. Now the Black Lightning Season 2 trailer has dropped.

During SDCC, fans hoped for a trailer for the season. All they got was a sizzle reel, as the production had only just gotten started and there wasn’t enough footage to create a trailer. However, the wait has been worth it for this awesome, intense, and exciting trailer.

The Black Lightning Season 2 trailer kicks off with Jefferson Pierce and his daughter Anissa walking together to get their suits. Jefferson explains that the villains won’t stop, naming the three biggest ones from last season: Tobias, Syonide, and Khalil. It’s up to the Pierce family to keep the city safe.

During the trailer, we see Tobias using the A.S.A. case, which took him 13 episodes to acquire. Marvin “Krondon” Jones III shares that it’s going to be exciting to see what Tobias does with this case now that he has it and just what the contents can do.

More from CW

Tobias is one of those villains that you love to hate. He has his reasons for everything, based on a bad childhood. There are people in the world he loves, which isn’t always the case for villains, but now only Syonide is left, who he raised from a baby. He’s lonely and that plays a part in this upcoming season.

We also get a glimpse of Jennifer with her powers. She didn’t want to accept them in the first season, understandably. As a teen, she just wants a normal life. However, by the end of the season, she realized her powers weren’t going away (well, not without some risks) and she realized that she could do good with them. It looks like she’ll step up more this season and learn to control those lightning powers.
