3. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Releasing: November 16, 2018

Starring: Aimee Carrero, AJ Michalka and Sandra Oh

Why it’s worth a watch: Most adults don’t really pay attention to Netflix’s selection of animated shows for kids. However, they do have a huge catalog of cartoons that can be enjoyed by any and all ages. One of their upcoming projects is a reboot of 1985 show, She-Ra: Princess of Power.

Entitled She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, the series is an origin story for She-Ra and the adventures she gets into with her fellow princesses. Considering that she was in the shadow of He-Man, it’s finally time for She-Ra to be in the spotlight. Another reason fans might be excited is the show’s creator, Noelle Stevenson.

Stevenson is an artist and some of her works including Nimona and Lumberjanes, both graphic novels. If you’re a fan of Stevenson, it’s easy to see that She-Ra’s design was inspired by her. There’s also been a bit of controversy about She-Ra being “not sexy enough” which is stupid as it’s a cartoon for kids.

While it might not exactly like the original, She-Ra and The Princesses of Power has the potential to be better. With a focus on female warriors and friendship, it’s definitely worth checking out an episode or two.
