The conversation that took place on Twitter caused an uproar from fans who are shocked that the 40 year soap vet was apparently fired from his daytime job. After one fan came right out and asked if he was let go, Davidson confirmed it by simply saying, “It seems so.”

Another fan told him that he should check out another soap, but Doug Davidson said that his

history and loyalty remains with Young and the Restless. That says a lot right there.

What most soap fans love about their favorite daytime drama is the rich history that they have witnessed throughout the years. Strong family connections and past storylines that captivate an audience are what keeps viewers watching every day. It seems like Young and the Restless are in the process of doing away with that.

Fans agree as seen in their comments to Davidson. One person said, “I’ve watched Y&R forever, I realize over summer they bring in kids for when teens are home on vacation, BUT the bread and butter of daytime fans are adults that have grown with your show, raising kids, etc. Why are they trying to ruin a 45 year series?”

Davidson admitted that he was hurt by it all. Fans are feeling his pain as well. He came on the Y&R scene back in 1978 and has been a staple ever since.

It’s always sad for viewers to lose a beloved cast member from daytime TV but when the reason is because they were let go unexpectedly, it certainly causes quite an uproar to happen. How do you feel after hearing this news?
