According to Medela professionals, “Mastitis is an inflammation of the breast that may be accompanied by infection. It usually causes fever and major discomfort. Mastitis mostly occurs during the first six weeks post-partum, however, it can also occur at any other point during lactation. It could be a draining issue or dried up milk that’s causing the issue.”
