Big Brother 20 ratings went up in overall viewership numbers for the September 12 episode. This is good news for the reality competition show, CBS, and viewers hoping for some renewal information.

The Wednesday night episode saw an increase in viewers for CBS during the 8 p.m. time slot. While the increase wasn’t a huge one, it shows that the numbers are trending in the right direction. That could also forecast that the viewership numbers will increase again for the Double Eviction episode on September 13. If the Big Brother 20 ratings remain strong, it will make a good case to the brass at CBS that the show deserves to get renewed.

September 12 ratings

For Wednesday night, the Big Brother 20 ratings were at a 1.4/7 for the key demographic. According to a report from TV By the Numbers, the show brought in an estimated 5.57 million viewers. That was good enough for second place in the time slot, putting the show behind the America’s Got Talent results show. The AGT semifinals drew an estimated 9.93 million viewers.

In comparison to last week, the September 5 episode of Big Brother had a 1.5/7 mark in the key demographic. The episode also drew in an estimated 5.45 million viewers. It means that the latest episode took a slight hit in viewers aged 18-49, but went up in the overall numbers. It’s also possible that when the final numbers come in, that the ratings could shift up a tad.

Big Brother 20 ratings overall

When it comes to measuring the September 12 ratings against episodes earlier in the season, they stack up very well. In regard to overall viewership numbers for a summer show, these numbers are still pretty spectacular. If the final decision on whether or not to renew the reality competition is based on overall viewers, then this week could go a long way toward securing the future. What the show now needs, is for the September 13 ratings to be impressive as well.

The next episode of the show airs Thursday, September 13 at 9/8c on CBS. It has to go up against the Thursday night football game, but Episode 35 of the summer 2018 season has also been heavily advertised for its Double Eviction. With an episode that isn’t easy to predict in advance, maybe the Big Brother 20 ratings will tick up again.
