Season 9: The speech to Hael

Okay, so everything that happens with Hael isn’t great, but Supernatural Season 9, Episode 1 offers a beautiful moment; a moment that will go down as being one of the best Castiel moments ever in the history of the series. He helps another angel and this is everything that we can expect in Supernatural Season 14.

Hael is struggling being human now. Remember, this is after Metatron closes the Gates of Heaven and all the angels fell. Despite creating the Grand Canyon, Hael struggles with the idea of free will. This is something Castiel had struggled with in the first couple of seasons. Remember that Season 5 moment of rebelling against everything for Dean?

Castiel finally has an understanding of free will and what it means. He has the chance to explain that to Hael in a way that is beautiful and good, making it clear that he knows what it means to be human; at least the start of what it means.

This moment also shows us the influence that the Winchesters have had on Cass over the years. And we see what drives him throughout the season. Supernatural Season 9 brings us Human!Cass, one of the best interations of the character, and it all starts here.
