25. Season 13, Episode 18, “Be Still, My Soul”

We weren’t quite prepared for how much Maggie’s mom’s death was going to affect us. Cue Grey’s Anatomy Season 13, Episode 18, where Maggie and her mom got a chance to spend some final happy moments together.

The buildup to this episode was difficult. Maggie refused to let her mom give up on her life, angry that her mom had kept the breast cancer from her in the first place. It was an understandable reaction but one that had us screaming for Maggie to accept it before it was too late.

And then this episode came around. Grey’s Anatomy Season 13, Episode 18 gave Maggie the chance to accept her mom’s fate. The two painted nails and talked about the future, what Maggie’s mom hoped to happen. Finally, Maggie goes to open the window in the room.

We all knew what Maggie was going to see when she turned around. It was clear how it was all going to play out. Maggie’s mom knew death had come knocking but didn’t want her daughter to see it. As Maggie turned around, we saw what she saw: her mom peaceful and still.

Even if you’re not a fan of Maggie, this episode will catch you in the feels. Her mom was one of the kindest, sweetest people on the show, everything anyone would want in a mom. We didn’t want to say goodbye to her, especially not so soon! That death scene will make you choke up.
