MoviePass competitor Sinemia introduces unlimited movie ticket deal

MoviePass competitor Sinemia is making noise after MoviePass is failing to succeed in their business. Sinemia has family plans and has now introduced the unlimited movie ticket plan.

MoviePass was making headlines last year for their $9.95 a month for unlimited movies, which ended up burning a lot of their revenue causing them to take out a loan of $5 million dollars to pay for their merchants processing and fulfillment fees. They have now removed the unlimited plan and made it so you can only watch three movies a month. Sinemia has now swooped in and introduced an unlimited movie ticket plan.

For some customers, that’s a big deal if they go to the movies a lot. For me, one movie a month is fine. Sinemia didn’t want to release an unlimited plan since it’d be pointless as MoviePass was offering that. Once they changed it to three movies a month, Sinemia then introduced the unlimited movie ticket deal. That’s surely one way to take MoviePass’ customers and I’m sure they’re enjoying every minute of it.

Sinemia won’t lose money this way and they’re playing it the smart. What I don’t like is how they advertise that you pay for a family plan for two people for tickets $9.99 a month, yet when you go to their website, its an annual fee of $119.88. That is misleading and its an excessive amount of money.

It costs $30 a month for the unlimited tickets, which is a hefty amount.

Sinemia said in a statement:

"Sinemia called the $30 a month plan “a sustainable, reasonable model for seeing movies on an unlimited basis.”“While most of our plans are focused on the modern moviegoer who sees one, two, or three movies each month, we want to serve every type of movie lover and that includes frequent moviegoers looking for an unlimited tickets option,” CEO and founder Rifat Oguz notes in the release. “We’ve spent four years testing and fine-tuning our unlimited tickets model and are confident this is the right price to sustainably offer such a plan.”"

It seems Sinemia hasn’t put the unlimited ticket deal on their website yet, but you can check it daily until they release it. They also offer many individual and family plans. I’m waiting on Regal to offer a subscription service, as I don’t trust third party applications. That’s just me, though.
