Wow. Way to play with our hearts, American Horror Story: Apocalypse! There were no witches in sight in episode 2, but there were plenty of snakes! And… a robot?

The teaser trailer for episode 2 of American Horror Story: Apocalypse, titled, “The Morning After,” featured three of our favorite witches. Madison (Emma Roberts), Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy), and Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) are in the video making a big entrance. But, as it turns out, the snippets of the witches are only teasing what’s ahead and are not a preview to “The Morning After.” Disappointed? So are we!

The only connection Apocalypse has so far to Coven and Murder House is Michael Langdon (Cody Fern). Although, we did get to see Tate as the rubber man in action. Still, the characters we were hoping to see are the witches.

Many important events took place, though, including the death of another Outpost Three occupant. But, unlike other seasons, the character death was the least of our concerns…

Michael Langdon has explained the situation. As other outposts continue to be overrun, there remains a Sanctuary with security and plenty of supplies for all. However, not just anyone is welcome. Michael is there to analyze the survivors and take with him a select few. He goes on to tell everyone his decision will be based on several questions, like an interview. But we all know there is much more to it than that.

Michael is playing mind games, and Mr. Gallant (Evan Peters) is his first subject. It all led to the death of Evie (Joan Collins), killed by her own grandson. He didn’t know who he was stabbing, though, visions tricked him into thinking he was killing the rubber man instead.

The biggest shock, however, was not a mind game…

Mead (Kathy Bates) tried to kill Emily (Ashley Santos) and Timothy (Kyle Allen) for having sex. Timothy fought back, though, and shot Mead. She was able to escape the room, but was visibly wounded. We didn’t expect her to die from this shot, but we were expecting to see some blood.

Instead? A strange gooey substance and wires. Is Mead not human?! Or, does she have cyborg parts? Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the answer!

This just adds on to the many mysteries Apocalypse has given us. Who’s overrunning the posts? The Coven, more than likely. But now there’s also mind games, snakes coming back to life, and robots! Oh my.
