The episode titles for Supernatural Season 14, Episodes 8-11 may have been released. Where have these titles come from and what could they mean?

Supernatural Wikia has the titles for the first 11 episodes of Supernatural Season 14. I’ve already looked at the first seven, so this is a good chance to see Episodes 8-11 and what they could mean. We can sometimes look at where the titles came from to get an understanding of the episode.

What I will point out is that the Wikia doesn’t say where these titles came from. I’ve not been able to find them. I do wish places would share their sources!

The potential titles are:

  • Episode 8: Byzantium
  • Episode 9: The Spear
  • Episode 10: Nihilism
  • Episode 11: Damaged Goods

Byzantium: Movie or colony?

More from Supernatural

There is a 2012 vampire movie with the title Byzantium, but it seems odd that the show would consider that source for this title. I say this because there was an Ancient Greek colony with the name, which is now Istanbul. This is where the title likely comes from, as it’s shrouded in legend and folklore.

This could be linked to Michael’s storyline, as he builds an empire of what he believes is grandeur and perfection. That doesn’t mean Jensen Ackles is still playing the character though, as I believe we’ll have Dean back by this point. Maybe Christian Keyes will return.

The Spear: James Herbert’s book?

I think Supernatural Season 14, Episode 9’s title is going to be taken from the James Herbert novel of the same name. Written in 1978, it has a Nazi occult focus, looking back at the fascists who wanted to raise Heinrich Himmler from the dead with the Holy Lance.

This fits in perfectly for the series. After all, Michael is Hitler in a way, with his belief of purifying the Earth. Supernatural has touched on the Nazis before (and if this is where the story goes, there needs to be a mention of Dean killing Hitler), and we’ve seen Hands of God and all types of other religious artifacts before.

Nihilism: Life is meaningless?

The term “nihilism” means the rejection of all types of principles. It often leads to the idea that life is meaningless, and can also be referred to as pessimism, cynicism, and other negative names. There’s the idea that nothing in the world is actually real.

Could this be a link to the Michael storyline? Or will it link to the Heaven storyline? Will we see it all crumble and the spirits land on Earth, with the view that existence is meaningless?

Damaged Goods: Who feels impaired?

Damaged goods is a popular saying, referring to someone or something that has an impairment of some type. The question is who this will refer to. Could it be aimed at Dean and the way he feels after dealing with the memories of what Michael did? How about Jack if he’s still powerless and struggling?

Something could happen during the first 11 episodes to Sam, Castiel, Mary, Bobby or any of the others. We could even have Gabriel or Lucifer back since we know Supernatural Season 14 is heading back to the Empty. There are so many possibilities for this one and I’m just thinking literally about it right now.
