Expedition Unknown: Search for the Afterlife premiere exclusive: Studying the consciousness after death
Expedition Unknown is back an Josh Gates is exploring the afterlife. In this exclusive clip, we learn there could be something after death.
There are plenty of questions about life after death. We all have our theories but did you know there are actually studies into it. Expedition Unknown returns and this time it’s all about the Search for the Afterlife. Josh Gate looks into what it really means to die.
while you’ve likely seen plenty of movies and shows that focus on the afterlife, not very many know what it is like to come back from the dead. Do we see or experience anything? Is it a life like Forever or is it just the darkness Jon Snow describes in Game of Thrones? Josh wants to know and he’s not alone.
In the Expedition Unknown: Search for the Afterlife exclusive clip from Discovery, we meet doctors who have studied the afterlife and “near death” experiences. These aren’t “near deaths” as the patients have actually died; considered clinically dead.

Technology is used to make sure it’s possible to test what people see and hear when they have crashed on the table. Visual and audio stimuli is used to see what the dead experience. When they come back, the patients share their experiences and the findings are amazing. It does feel a little like Flatliners, but this isn’t a horror.
The Expedition Unknown premiere isn’t just about the studies, either. Josh will head to an Ancient Roman “Gate to Hell.” Legend says this gate still claim so victims and this is a chance to explore other cultures and beliefs.
