Mom Season 6, episode 3 recap: Bonnie and Adam find a wedding venue
This week on Mom, Bonnie and Adam are searching for the ideal wedding venue while Christy struggles with the one tough professor.
Over lunch at the bistro, Christy complains to Jill, Wendy, and Marjorie about her really mean teacher. Saying all she does after class everyday is cry in her car, Christy considers taking Marjorie’s advice to find an AA meeting close to her school. Bonnie, running in late, confesses to the group that she just made the mistake of booking a wedding venue without Adam’s input. Thinking on her feet, Jill suggests she come up with a plan to make Adam believe it was his choice.
The next day, after taking him to the beautiful garden, complete with babbling brook, Bonnie and Adam tour a re-purposed barrel factory. Although he seemed to dig it, Adam suggests the garden would be a better choice for their impending nuptials.
At a meeting, Christy tries to keep it together, despite really struggling with her classes. Just as she starts to air her grievances about her tough professor, Christy notices that very same professor (guest star Constance Zimmer) walks in the door. After the meeting, the two chat for a bit and decide to go out for coffee to talk.
Back at home, it’s the rare occasion that both Bonnie and Christy are in good moods. While the two are celebrating their individual wins, here comes Adam with some good news. He bought the old barrel factory and plans to turn it into a bar.
Although Christy is excited for him, Bonnie is, understandably, concerned. Upset that he didn’t hate the factory like he was supposed to, Bonnie lets it slip that she already booked the garden before Adam even saw it.

At school, Christy is doing much better. With a newly found confidence, Christy has no problem answering all the questions Natalie, her professor, asks. After class, Natalie confides in Christy that her ex-husband cancelled getting dinner with her, and that she is worried she’ll end up all alone. Refusing to go to a meeting, Natalie makes Christy go get coffee with her, so they can talk it out.
While the group grabs dinner at the bistro, Bonnie vents about Adam’s big purchase. While bringing up the point that he wouldn’t have even known about it had Bonnie not tried to trick him, Christy gets and ignores a phone call from Natalie, annoyed that she won’t stop bothering her. Jill, who is still going strong with her sobriety, tells Christy that this dependence is a major red flag.
The next day before class, Christy confronts Natalie about how she really ought to get serious with her sobriety and go to meetings more often. Disappointed that she can no longer rely on her, Natalie turns cold all of a sudden.
Over at the old barrel factory, Adam and a contractor are deciding where to put some flat-screen TVs when Bonnie shows up. Apologizing for trying to trick him, Bonnie tells Adam how excited she is for this new opportunity. Even though he blew his entire life savings on it, Adam is really looking forward to starting a new career, something he never thought he’d be able to do.
At a meeting, Christy shares about her experience trying to get Natalie to see the value in AA. Hoping to see her walk in the door at the last moment, Christy is disappointed when a little old lady comes in instead.
What did you think of this week’s episode of Mom? I can’t believe Adam bought that old barrel factory; it’s really going to make such a neat bar. I’m happy to see Christy stand up for herself and try to help Natalie. She isn’t normally so confident. Do you think we will be seeing more of Natalie in the coming weeks?
