Bob’s Burgers: Tweentrepreneurs is a test for the Belchers
It’s hard to believe Bob’s Burgers is already 3 episodes in, but Tweentrepreneurs has the Belcher kids working together while Bob and Linda get fooled.
Bob’s Burgers might be having a blast from the past this week. Business usually takes a backseat to the Belchers unless it’s Bob, Louise or Working Girl the musical. All jokes aside, this week’s episode “Tweentrepreneurs” is all about the Belchers and their business. The synopsis didn’t give us much to go off of though which isn’t always a bad thing. We can only hope this episode isn’t strictly about business and keeps some of that Belcher charm.
If you haven’t watched “Tweentrepreneurs,” there will be spoilers from this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers.
“Tweentrepreneurs” begins with Tina explaining the new small business called Tweentrepreneurs and they get to start their own business. The Belcher kids and their friends all suggest ideas, deciding to go with Jimmy Jr: Woodchuck. The Belchers and Rudy end up getting stuck with creating the product while everyone else does almost nothing.

Woodchuck ends up being super successful and they quickly sell 100 of them. The rest of the group invests their money into a soda stream without asking Rudy and the kids. Everyone is fed up and Tina tries to get them more perks but gives up after being promoted to manager. After a meeting, Tina explains to Louise, Gene and Rudy to produce Woodchucks at a 1/4 of the amount of time it usually takes.
They decide to “quarter-ass” their production while Tina, Zeke, Jimmy Jr, Tammy and Jocelyn do nothing. Louise, Gene and Rudy go on strike since they’re not getting fair treatment. Tina comes up with a new idea, Woodchuck 2 at half price and it backfires since no one buys it. Mr. Frond explains that if they end up in bankruptcy, they will fail the course and get a “bad in business” in their permanent record.
Tina calls an emergency meeting and Louise suggests selling the company to Teddy as an investment. After Teddy explains how much he loves Bob’s Burgers, Tina regrets tricking him and decides to sell all of the googly eyes. In the end, they sell all of the eyes, payback Reflections and still make a profit.
Back at the restaurant, Linda tells one of their customers to take their time with the check. He dines and dashes but Bob doesn’t catch up to him. The dasher comes back to the restaurant and does it again. He comes back, prepaying and tricks Bob into giving his money back. The guy comes back a 4th time and explains he loves their burgers too much to dine and dash so the Belchers tie him up and feed him.
Thank goodness, this week’s episode didn’t suffer from the same thing the previous two have. The plotline with the kids running their own business and the dine-and-dash plot line played off each other perfectly. Each was given the right amount of time and development instead of just being thrown together for no reason.
The business plot line was stronger and incredibly unique. It’s not often that we see Tina siding with her friends. She usually always sticks with Gene and Louise so it was a welcomed change. It’s definitely putting Tina more in the teen category and I’m glad the show is exploring that. As for the dine-and-dash plotline, it was great comedy relief.
What truly made the episode was Teddy and his love for Bob’s Burgers. It was a brief interaction but a sweet moment. Teddy hasn’t really been featured much in episodes so far so it was nice. Hopefully, there are going to be more Teddy-centric episodes in the future. Considering next week’s episode is their Halloween one, there’s no telling what the Belchers will get into.
Of all the episodes that have aired so far, this one felt the most complete. Neither plotline felt like it didn’t belong or didn’t move the episode along. “Tweentrepreneurs” was exactly what I had been hoping for. It’s only episode 3 but it gets me excited to see what’s going to happen next. So far, the Bob’s Burgers crew has surprised me so there’s no telling what they have up their sleeve.
I give “Tweentrepreneurs” a B-
