Criminal Minds Season 14, Episode 3 preview: What’s in the box?
I can’t think of the line “what’s in the box” without thinking of Se7en, and it looks like Criminal Minds Season 14, Episode 3 is going to take a page out of that movie’s book. Looking in the box is the only way to solve the case.
The only way to solve this week’s case is to look in the box, and suddenly Criminal Minds Season 14, Episode 3 sounds like it belongs in the movie Se7en. There are even six recipients of boxes in the episode titled “Rule 34,” but could there be a seventh somewhere or is the UnSub the seventh?
To be able to figure out who the UnSub is, the team has to figure out what links each of the six box recipients. Why are they receiving the grizzly contents and what could they have done that ties them together? Why is this UnSub after them?

As usual, we can expect the team to then put together a profile, figuring out who they’re looking for and what signs they need to find a location.
In the sneak peek for the episode, there’s more to the story. Each box contains part of a human body. There are two arms without hands, two legs without feet, and a torso cut in half. There’s no head, making it extremely difficult to identify the victim. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also an index card in each box, with a line of “Humpty Dumpty” adapted for the storyline.

Meanwhile, Simmons and Kristy need to deal with their son. After he’s suspended for aggressive behavior, the parents need to connect with him. But how do you connect with someone who doesn’t want to be connected with? I hope we’ll see more of JJ and Simmons bounce off each other in this episode, as both are the only two with children on the show.
The title of the episode also makes me think of NCIS. After all, Gibbs is the one with all the rules.

"When packages with gruesome contents are delivered to six people in the Washington, D.C. area, the BAU must first figure out what connects the recipients before they can identify the UnSub. Also, Simmons and Kristy (Kelly Frye) struggle to connect with their son, David, who is suspended from school for aggressive behavior."
