The gang may be back together and it’s time to figure out what the hell went down with Michael!Dean. Check out the top takeaways from the Supernatural Season 14, Episode 3 promo and synopsis.

Full warning before getting into this breakdown of the trailer and synopsis, there are spoilers from Supernatural Season 14, Episode 2. There’s no way that I could avoid them! If you need a refresher, check out this recap of “Gods and Monsters” and then come back here.

So, let’s get into it. The gang seems like its back together. Is it really? Well, that’s a question for another day. Right now, we’re not focused on that but on the takeaways from the Supernatural Season 14, Episode 3 promo and synopsis.

Titled “The Scar,” it looks pretty obvious where that comes from. “The Scar” is what’s left behind in Dean. It’s a mental scar but there is also something literal about it in the episode. Here are the top five takeaways from the promo and synopsis.

Check out the synopsis and promo here before getting into the breakdown:

"KIM RHODES RETURNS AS SHERIFF JODY MILLS – Still trying to solve the mystery of what happened to Dean (Jensen Ackles), Sam (Jared Padalecki) enlists the help of Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) who may unknowingly already be on the case. Castiel (Misha Collins) continues to be a father figure to Jack (Alexander Calvert), who surprises even himself when a life is on the line."

1. Jack is happy

More from Supernatural

Let’s be honest, we hated hearing Jack say that if it came to it, Dean would have to die. Poor Jack was just speaking like a soldier. The lives of the many are more important than the lives of the few, or in this case, Dean.

Well, it looks like Jack may have just been more bark than bite. If it came down to it, would he have been able to kill Dean? Possibly not if the look on Jack’s face in the trailer is anything to judge. He’s happy and excited that Dean is back.

He does, of course, as the question we’re all wondering. “Is it really you?” Well, Dean, is it?

2. Dean can’t remember anything

Like Nick, Dean isn’t going to be able to remember everything Michael did while in his body. That doesn’t sound too surprising. This type of mythology was set up in Supernatural Season 9. Gadreel was able to make Sam think he was on a hunt to avoid feeling like time had passed without him remembering it.

When Castiel had said yes to Lucifer, Cass was sitting in the bunker somewhere in his mind. It showed that angels could create events.

Is this something Michael has done to Dean? Or is this more like demon possession where sometimes the victim was just asleep? How long will Dean not remember?

3. Jody is back

This was clear from the synopsis. It made it loud and clear that Jody Mills was stepping back into the world of Supernatural. Any other Wayward Sisters? That’s not clear yet but it doesn’t matter.

The Winchesters and Jody get in touch with each other and it may be linked to what Dean did while Michael was in control. In the synopsis, she may already be unknowingly on the case. Is that what happens? Can she help piece the puzzle together?

4. The witches are back

There’s a blink-and-you-miss-it clip in the Supernatural Season 14, Episode 3 promo that shows a witch is back. Does this mean the return of Rowena as well? That’s something I can’t answer, but it is interesting that witchcraft is involved.

So far, Michael has recruited vampires and werewolves. It looks like his plan with vampires didn’t work out but Michael is on a mission to build an army of monsters. Do witches count in that army?

If not, why are witches in the episode? Is one going to help figure out what happened to Dean?

5. There is a physical scar

Dean has a scar on his arm. We see it when he tells Castiel to get inside his head and it’s clearly linked to something to do with Michael. Is this some sort of residual magic left inside? Does it link to why Michael decided to leave his sword?

The physical scar could be what puts the Winchesters on the case with Jody. It could also be a clue of what’s to come. The last time Dean had a scar simialr to this was when Castiel raised him from Hell in the Supernatural Season 4 premiere. Is it a connection to that?
