Supernatural Season 14, Episode 2 gave us more from Michael!Dean, a look at a heartbroken but dangerous Nick, and a Jack dealing with personal issues. Here are the best lines from “Gods and Monsters.”

We got plenty of storylines in Supernatural Season 14, Episode 2. Between Michael developing his plan further and Nick remembering about his family, it seemed like there couldn’t be anything else. However, we also got plenty from Jack, as he dealt with his personal feelings with everything that has happened.

There have certainly been plenty of questions and theories raised. But right now I want to look back at the episode and pick out my favorite lines from the night. Here are my five favorite lines from “Gods and Monsters.”

That’s no man. That’s not a man. That’s a monster. That’s a monster, and then — and then Lucifer found me and made me a monster, too. Oh, my God!

Mark Pellegrino slayed it during the night. For years, we’ve watched him as Lucifer and now we get a chance to see him as Nick. This scene was heartbreaking. I’m not even going to question how Castiel knew about Nick’s family as that isn’t important right now. Nick going through his thought process and viewing angels and humans as monsters is perfect.

More from Supernatural

Sam and Dean, they weren’t born with their expertise. They’ve been at it since they were children. Failing, winning, developing over the years. Patience… persistence — those are skills, too.

Castiel had some excellent scenes between those with Nick and those with Jack. In this one, he tried to help Jack, who is certainly struggling with a lack of powers. He’s also annoyed that he’s not great at the hunting lark. It’s easy to assume Sam and Dean have always been good, but Castiel really does have a point–one many will have forgotten up to this point.

And in the time I spent with her, she was an amazing mother. Her son loves her very much.

In the last season, Jack was trying to learn more about his mother. Seeing him with his grandparents was so bittersweet but it was important for him and his character development. This was certainly one of the standout lines in Supernatural Season 14, Episode 2, as he focused on everything he truly believed about his mom.

Rule number 1 — you can’t have a trap without bait. That brings us to rule number 2, which says… once the trap has been sprung, you don’t need the bait anymore.

Michael is a formidable villain. We’ve learned now that he’s not going to remain the villain the whole season, but he’s certainly one to be concerned about right now. He’s constantly one step ahead of everyone else. While it’s good to have Dean back, this line stands out and reminds us we shouldn’t count our chickens before they hatch. Michael is up to something.

Sammy. It’s me.

Yep, Dean is back. At least, it looks like he is. After the fight with the super-wolves, Dean stumbled into the room. It’s been a long time we’ve heard him call his brother “Sammy,” making this a perfect moment. Now if only we could trust that it was definitely Dean.
