Treehouse of Horror XXV features Bart actually doing well in school, Moe as the head of a gang, and the Simpsons being visited by people long departed.

Treehouse of Horror XXV opens with Kang and Kodos hosting a talk show style tribute celebrating the 25th annual Halloween special. The two aliens introduce various guest stars while clips from past Treehouse of Horror episodes whiz by. But it turns out that the guest stars have all been killed and their bodies are used to spell out the opening title.

School is Hell

Bart stumbles across a desk in detention that has an ancient inscription carved on it. After Lisa translates it, Bart reads it out loud and the two are transported to Hell, which takes the form of a school. Lisa manages to find them a way back using a portal that leads to Mr. Burns’ office, but Bart is reluctant to stay on Earth, as he was excelling in school for the first time ever. Homer and Marge go to the school and talk to the principal (a winged creature with the heads of both Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers) before reluctantly agreeing to let Bart try it. He immediately does well in all subjects, but for Bart’s final exam he is tasked with torturing Homer.

While Bart hesitates to go through with the final exam, Homer insists and says he wants him to do it. Bart agrees and is made class Valedictorian at Graduation, while a disfigured and disemboweled Homer watches with Marge and the rest of the family.

A Clockwork Yellow

In a parody of A Clockwork Orange, Moe is the leader of a gang that revels in chaos. But young Homer meets Marge and she persuades him to leave the group, which causes everyone else to go their own separate ways. After being tossed out of Big Ben, Moe catches a ride on Sharry Bobbins before taking up a normal job as a bartender.

Many years later Moe is at home when a group of thugs (Dolph, Kearny, Nelson, and Jimbo) break in and destroy everything while dressed just like Moe and his old gang members. In response, he goes to Homer and they get the gang back together for one last run.

After deciding on a home invasion, they break into the Burns Mansion where they find everyone in dressed in masquerade for an Eyes Wide Shut style party. Moe’s gang immediately begins causing chaos while parodies of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Full Metal Jacket (other Stanley Kubrick films) are inserted into the chaos. After Moe comments that he is finally happy, the image stops on a monitor while Stanley Kubrick watches in an editing room. Seeing it, he decides to scrap everything and start all over.

The Others

One morning Homer sees a message on the medicine cabinet, Marge finds milkshakes in the kitchen, and Lisa thinks the TV isn’t working because it’s only playing Married… with Children. Thinking the house is haunted, Homer asks the spirits to reveal themselves. When they do, the Simpsons find themselves face to face with the past version of themselves from their first appearance on The Tracey Ullman Show.

Most of the Simpsons immediately begin clashing with their past selves, but Homer finds himself attracted to the old Marge. This causes Marge to kill herself by sticking her head in the oven, while Homer drowns after old Homer hits him on the head with a toaster while taking a bath. Lisa comments how she and Bart are now in charge, but Bart responds by jumping out a window to escape. Lisa attempts to go after him, but is killed by the fall. After Bart comments that he’s the last of the Simpsons, Lisa uses his slingshot to shoot an acorn into his mouth so he chokes to death.

Groundskeeper Willie takes the bodies while Marge blames Homer for their current state. When she responds that she’s the best Marge for him because she knows everything he’s done and still loves him, Homer agrees and the past and present Simpsons agree to stop fighting.

But while everyone is getting along at breakfast, Lisa realizes that there could be more versions of them in existence. Which turns out to be true, as other animated versions of The Simpsons begin showing up. With that, Treehouse of Horror XXV ends.
