Legacies: Did Matt Davis hint Zach Roerig may have a recurring role?

Not only is Julie Plec inviting the cast members of The Vampire Diaries to Legacies, but it appears a fan favorite may have a recurring role.

Legacies is already off to a great start with fans falling in love with the series. There are twists, drama, a monster-of-the-week (a freaking humanoid dragon and a gargoyle king!).

There are many tweets by fans that they love the show. This is great news. Even though Legacies is based on two spin-off show’s, it’s still its own series. The hard part about a new show is having viewers stick with you each week, along with growing a fan base. That’s no easy task.

Luckily for Legacies, there’s already a fan base in place and I’m sure fans will be lured back with a monster-of-the-week. You will never know what will show up.

There’s more good news, though. Not only is Legacies slowly gaining traction with the fans, but the fans of The Vampire Diaries will be more than happy to hear this: Matt Davis has recently hinted fan favorite Zach Roerig (sheriff Matt Donovan) may have a recurring role on Legacies. He said that we will see Matt and Alaric butt heads over the jurisdiction of the school. I am thrilled to hear about this, not about Matt and Alaric butting heads though.

So far, Matt has appeared in the series premiere, and now he will return in the fourth episode, “Hope is Not the Goal”. I’m sure many of you are wondering what the synopsis is about the episode. Here it is, per CW:

"When two local students go missing, Alaric (Matthew Davis) sends Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), MG (Quincy Fouse) and Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) to Mystic Falls High to investigate. Meanwhile, as Josie (Kaylee Bryant) helps Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith) adjust to his new life at the school, his reluctance to follow the wolf pack’s rules puts a target on his back. Lastly, an unsettling discovery puts Alaric and Sheriff Donovan (guest star Zach Roerig) at odds with one another."

This sounds suspenseful, and I can’t really predict much of what’s going on as we have yet to watch the third episode, “We’re Being Punked, Pedro.” It premieres this Thursday at 9/8c on The CW. “We’re Being Punked, Pedro” guest-stars another The Vampire Diaries fan favorite, Jeremy Gilbert, which you can see an image of below.

The one thing that bugged me from Matt’s appearance at the end of Legacies series premiere was that Alaric called Matt as “Sheriff” rather than “Matt” as he called him Matt on The Vampire Diaries. The fans and I would have appreciated it if Alaric called him Matt.
