The Simpsons are featured in three sketches that parody famous nautical themed stories.

While waiting for their food at the Frying Dutchman, the Simpsons grow bored and tell three nautical themed stories to pass the time.

Mayflower Madman

Lisa begins with the story of the Pilgrims’ journey to America. The Simpsons allow a local drunkard (Homer) to accompany them on the voyage, but their lifestyle is a huge adjustment for him. Regardless, Homer is immediately taken by Marge despite Moe’s plotting to take her for his own. But when she sees Homer strangling her son she’s touched, as that’s exactly the way her late husband used to strangle him too. Moe sees this and plans to split them up by taking Homer down to the ship’s hull for a drinking game in order to get him drunk.

While a storm ravages the ship, Moe shows everyone how drunk people are below deck and pronounces Homer responsible. Homer is placed in a stock as punishment, but Captain Ned Flandish is knocked out and it turns out that Homer is the only one left who can pilot the ship. He manages to steer the ship through the storm and the Pilgrims soon reach the New World. Upon their arrival, the Pilgrims break bread with Chief Wiggum and his Indian tribe.

The Whine-Bar Sea

Bart tells a story that parodies Mutiny on the Bounty. Captain Bligh (Principal Skinner) runs his ship The Bounty in an autocratic manner that displeases the crew. Willie warns him about it, but Bligh just ignores the advice. The crew lands on the island of Tahiti and welcomed by the natives before having a wonderful time. But they eventually have to leave and the crew is more miserable than ever. They eventually commit mutiny and shove the Captain overboard in a rowboat along with Willie. He quickly tires of his behavior as well and paddles away while leaving the Captain floating on a turtle’s back.

The crew sail the ship back to Tahiti, but they wind up reaching Antarctica instead.

Watership D’ohn (aka The Neptune Adventure)

Homer tells the final story, which is a parody of The Poseidon Adventure. It’s New Years Eve on The Neptune when the ship gets overturned by a massive tidal wave. After the collision kills most of the passengers, Selma suggests a way for them to escape. The Simpsons and a few others leave with her and manage to escape through the ship’s hull.

While being rescued, they encounter a now skeleton crew manning the Bounty ship that’s still  looking for Tahiti.
