The “Cuervo/Tz’ikb’uul” episode of Mayans M.C. is all about family and starting over. The former is not a choice, but the latter most certainly is.

The new partnership between the Galindo Cartel and Los Olvidados should prove lucrative and dangerous in the very near future. Using the Mayans M.C. to act as the arbitrator between the two organizations places every member of the M.C. in a prime spot to profit. And also in a position to be squeezed.

Another new partnership was exposed recently when the DOJ and the Galindo Cartel were proven to be in bed together. Of course, only the DOJ believes things are working, because the Cartel is planning on reneging on the deal as soon as possible. That could severely impact at least two members of the Mayans M.C.

It’s done. We move on.

What was Miguel Galindo (Danny Pino) supposed to do? Just let Devante (Tony Plana) keep lying to him about family history, implicating his own mother Dita Galindo (Ada Maris), and lead the family into ruin? Offering Devante up as a sacrifice to Adelita was a fairly obvious choice in retrospect.

Demoting Nestor (Gino Vento) for the sloppy way he beat a nun to death, however, was not anticipated. Nestor doesn’t take it well. Nonetheless, the choice is made.

Meanwhile, Felipe (Edward James Olmos) tells KJ (Maurice Compte) to head north, trying to save him from EZ (JD Pardo) & Angel (Clayton Cardenas) being forced to murder. EZ is unsure about what to do, but Angel is focused on completing the deal and saving his brother from the life of crime. Given his past, Felipe briefly thinks about killing KJ. He even grabs a gun, but can’t do it.

Later, EZ and Angel converge on KJ’s house, where they are surprised by Bowen (Curtiss Cook). The result is Bowen receiving multiple new orifices compliments of EZ, and KJ getting see-through tunnel in his forehead thanks to Angel.

The fallout from the double-homicide appears to be on the up-and-up. Potter actually expunges EZ’s criminal record and deal with the Feds. He says the deal was for one kill, not two, and EZ owes him one. What that means is unclear, but Potter will likely reappear in season 2.

Adelita and Los Olvidados move into a house. To feel normal again. Adelita’s Little Mouse wants to know about how they’re going to run like this, but Adelita promises safety as long as there is faith. She’s confident enough in her deal to establish some permanence, which also means a potential love connection with Angel.

More from FX

The shockwaves of the Reyes murder house reach the M.C. when EZ decides to sit down with El Padrino (Emilio Rivera), Bishop (Michael Irby), Taza (Raoul Max Trujillo), for a talk. Despite Angel demanding EZ leave the club and the life, a deal is brokered that changes the charter’s bylaws. Blood can no longer sponsor blood because of the Reyes’ family issues – if only Marcus, Bishop, and Taza knew all the details – so, Bishop is now the sponsor.

Previously, EZ’s deal with the Feds could only have ruined him and Angel. Now it can destroy the entire club.

One other done deal links the M.C. to the Cartel more than ever before. Marcus Alvarez has a personal discussion with Bishop that leaves both looking distraught and weary. El Padrino takes off his cut, leaves it on a chair in Templo, and walks out.

EZ sees his leader walk out of the party and is not quite sure what it means. A subsequent arrival at the Galindo estate makes it clear Marcus is the new counsel for the cartel. Will he push the MC to side with the Galindo Cartel when there are differences in the new joint venture with Los Olvidados?

There is no moving on from the thrilling finish

EZ talks to a SOA prospect at a party celebrating the new Mayans M.C. position between power players. The SOA prospect motions to his sponsor, and it’s Happy (David Labrava). Consequently, EZ has one of his flashbacks and he recognizes Happy as the person he was chasing after his mother’s murder. Could the killer be Happy?
