The new Freeform original feature No Sleep ‘Til Christmas follows two strangers who can only fall asleep if they’re next to each other. See what real-life couple Dave and Odette Annable said about why the new film is perfect for 25 Days of Christmas movie fans.

Premiering during Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas, Dave and Odette Annable star in No Sleep ‘Til Christmas, an “unexpected and whimsical holiday romantic comedy” about two strangers who both suffer from extreme insomnia.

A theme of exhaustion? It just may be the most relatable new Christmas movie of the season. In the new Freeform original feature, No Sleep ‘Til Christmas, strangers Lizzie and Billy will crash (literally) into each other and discover that they have a major, logical reason to stay in each other’s lives.

No Sleep ‘Til Christmas synopsis:

"Lizzie (Odette Annable) is a high-end event planner preparing for her own life’s biggest event – her wedding. She lies awake nightly while her devoted fiancé Josh (Charles Michael Davis) rests peacefully, unaware of how to solve her issue. When a sleep-deprived incident causes her to run into Billy (Dave Annable), a low-key bartender who is just as sleepless and frustrated as she is, they discover that they can only fall asleep while next to each other. What seems like an odd coincidence, and frankly a disruption to their lives, might be more meaningful than they’d like to admit."

We recently caught up with Dave and Odette Annable to learn more about the new 25 Days of Christmas movie. “I think the storyline is really fun,” Odette said.

“Two people that can’t get any sleep, and then you find out that they can only sleep when they’re next to each other, and they’re not even that fond of each other. So it’s a really sweet idea and we got to banter a little bit and improv a little bit, and it just felt really right for us.”

Dave and Odette Annable on working together for No Sleep ‘Til Christmas

Dave and Odette Annable have shared the screen before on the television series Brothers & Sisters, but No Sleep ‘Til Christmas was their first time filming a movie together, a completely new experience for the couple. “The first time we got to work together was super fun, but it was super quick,” Dave said.

“You’re doing an episode of TV, so you’re there for at most, 10 hours together. This was both of us the entire film, and away in a different city… and we had our baby there as well, so we didn’t know how it was going to go to be honest.”

“We were both a little terrified,” Odette admitted. “We really did have a nice time and I was working in Vancouver for the whole year on Supergirl, and I wasn’t able to be with my family as much. So, for us to be able to have this opportunity, and thanks to Freeform, it was just such a cool thing to do.”

Dave explained that working for the first time together on No Sleep ‘Til Christmas showed each of them new sides of the other. “You get to see a part of your spouse that you necessarily wouldn’t get to see, like your spouse at work,” he said. “I got to watch Odie on set, crush it with who she is and how she [talks] with people.”

“We really just reminded ourselves every day that this is an opportunity that not most people get, and just to be grateful for it,” Odette added. “And we get to show this to our kids later on in life and always have this.”

The Annables also shared why No Sleep ‘Til Christmas is the perfect addition to the 25 Days of Christmas movie line-up. “I think it’s got all those ingredients that make a great Christmas rom-com,” Odette said. “We have the tale of love… it ensues comedy, and I just feel like the story is just different enough that fans are going to be able to enjoy it and see a different kind of holiday movie.”
