15 most shocking moments in The Last Kingdom Season 3
14. Thyra’s death
As it happened, it was clear that it was the only way to end this tale. It would bring Beocca onto Uhtred’s side fully, standing up against the discontent for the Danes. However, it was a shocking and heartbreaking moment.
Thyra was so sweet and kind. She didn’t have a mean thing to say about anyone, except those who threatened her (and I can’t blame her for that). She was smart in one sense, creating a hole under the floorboards to hide. The problem was that she had no way to escape.
I think the most shocking part of this was the way she died. As Beocca pointed out, fire was what killed her parents. Would she have felt some peace knowing that fire would consume her the way it consumed her parents? She opted for a quick death in the end by stabbing herself, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t think of the poetry of the fire.
13. Skade poisoning Bloodhair
Bloodhair was such a force to be reckoned with, his death was always going to be a shocking moment. Yet, it was the way that it happened that made it stand out from the numerous deaths throughout The Last Kingdom Season 3.
Haesten just shouldn’t have been able to kill him. Bloodhair was a stronger and far more skilled warrior. Of course, something had to have happened to make him weaker.
What better way than with Skade? She took the chance to poison/drug him, so that he was weak and delirious. That realization on his face as he looked at her and saw the smirk was powerful.
Considering how men objectified her, I don’t blame Skade for her actions. However, it was a cruel and unfair way to allow Haesten to win this fight. At least she brought the weaker man out to take on Uhtred.
