Skipped a trip to the movies this weekend to get some Christmas shopping done? That appears to be the case as the box office reports lowest weekend of the year.

Once again, Ralph Breaks the Internet is the top movie at the box office. However, it’s not much of a victory when everything is quiet at the movies. According to Box Office Mojo, this past weekend broke the record of being the lowest one of 2018.

Ralph Breaks the Internet collected $16.1 million domestically, for a worldwide total of $258 million. That’s an amazing sum overall, but $16.1 million for the #1 movie? We’re used to seeing that number in the bottom 5. Ouch, imagine what the others made! Well, don’t imagine it, we’ll just tell ya!

Following close behind in second place is The Grinch, with $15.1 million. As small as that total may seem, though, the animated film now has a worldwide sum of $322.3 million worldwide against its reported $75 million budget. Not too shabby at all.
