The producers of Sharknado should countersue Tara Reid
It turns out Tara Reid is suing the producers of Sharknado for a staggering $100 million dollars. If anything, this should inspire the same producers to countersue Tara Reid.
According to Variety, there is one more squeeze of juice left in the desiccated Sharknado husk. Thankfully, there is not going to be another sequel. The last sequel was more than enough to sour anyone of that possibility. Instead, however, Tara Reid is suing the producers of Sharknado for a ridiculous sum that she clearly doesn’t deserve.
Her justification stems from an alleged agreement with Asylum and SYFY Media Productions in which her likeness wouldn’t be used on products related to anything in which the ATF might get involved. In other words, her high moral standards are opposed to “gambling, alcohol, tobacco, or sex,” unless she gives her permission (i.e. gets paid).

It’s time to countersue.
While she alleges Asylum may have gone in with Northern Monk Brewing Co. to make “Sharknado” beer, and there is definitely a ridiculous slot machine out there, what about Tara Reid’s end of the bargain?
She was apparently paid $125K for Sharknado 5, and $175K for The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time, but she hardly kept the standards she set in the first Sharknado movie. Maybe Asylum should be seeking some of that money back.
Since the injunction is for using her likeness, the first thing that needs to be established is that Tara Reid has a different likeness in every single movie. In order for the injunction to be legit, she should probably narrow down the likeness from a specific movie. For instance, in Sharknado 3 she still looked mostly like Tara Reid.
In future films, however, there was a definite change. Suddenly she wasn’t Tara Reid. She was more “someone wearing a bloated Tara Reid costume.” Tara Chainsaw Massacre, if you will. The plastic surgery became more defining than Tara Reid.
By the time the final installment rolled around, she looked so different she was lucky they even cast her. It literally could have been another person who looks closer to the original Tara Reid than she does now. The only reason more people didn’t talk about it is because Vivica A. Fox looks nothing like what we remember, and Tori Spelling had plastic surgery that made her look like Courtney Love after a bender.
We’ve long been at the point in society when everyone sues for everything. Instead of suing the people responsible for the cult classic Sharknado series, Tara Reid should thank them for revitalizing her career. Unless, of course, there was another American Pie sequel on the horizon.
The Sharknado out of court settlement awaits.
